Zendala Dare #3

Zendala Dare #3 from The Bright Owl.
This challenge was a little tough. I kept thinking "french fries." =P
I really like organic/nature art, so I tried to go in that direction. I'm not entirely happy with the stripes, but I was trying to find a pattern that was not too "busy," so it didn't take away from the plant patterns. I do love the yellow "cat-kins" and the center is "scrolled feather." For a do-over, I would take the dark green out of the center and leave it white or match it with the yellow of the "cat-kins", so that the curls were more pronounced.
This one is definitely one to play with over and over. Looking forward to it. =) Comments are welcome. ~Becca

Zendala Dare #2

I just completed the Zendala Dare #2 from The Bright Owl. So far, I've only completed two, but I like doing them. It gives me a chance to study patterns, colors, and materials. Enjoy! Comments are welcome.

"Survivor"

Five years ago, they gave this little guy five months to live. Five years later, my fur-child is cancer-free and off of any medication. I dedicate this photograph to all of those adults, children, and pets who have ever faced a difficult time in their lives. Know you are loved. ~Becca

Zendala Dare #1

"Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art." ~ Andy Warhol
This was done on textured, recycled bristol paper with permanent marker.

Tree Series

One of my favorite things in life are trees. I'm currently working on creating a series of tree drawings using permanent markers and smooth bristol paper. So far, I have completed four trees, and my forest will continue to grow...I'll keep you posted. =)

Office/Studio Design

I have the wonderful opportunity of turning my home's spare bedroom into an office/studio space. It has posed to be a bit of a challenge to meet the personalities of my husband and I, but I know I can make it happen.
When asked what he would like to see in the office, the reply is a good sturdy hardwood desk with drawers, lots of filing space, and lots of shelves for books and such--the office. For myself, I would like closed storage for my art supplies, a drafting table where I can do art, write, and work on the computer--the studio. There is also a need to get the LARGE 4-in-one printer off of my desk and work space. I would love to have a comfy chair to sit in as well. I am an avid reader and I like to just sit and ponder my art as I am working.
The problem comes when we consider our design styles: I prefer the rustic look while he is a minimalist, which makes rustic look a little cluttered to him, although he does love wood.
So far the only must-have furniture is the drafting table designed by Hooker Furniture and the printer. Lots of possibilities! Below are initial thoughts...
If you have any ideas of must-haves, leave a comment and thanks!
The rooms dimensions are 10'9" x 11'10" with a 3'0"x5'0" closet. There is one 48" square window and the door is 2'6". The drafting table is 52" W X 34" D X 38" H.

Blessings

{Irish Blessing}
Here is a group of fine line drawings I've completed. They are my most recent works consisting of 4 blessings--Old Gaelic, Irish, Scottish, and Apache. There will be 1 more piece added to the collection when it is finished to represent a Christian Blessing.
{Old Gaelic Blessing}

{Apache Blessing}
I like the art that I create to have a story behind it. The different cultural blessings stand for family history or personal interests. These are meant to be displayed in a room where visitors may receive a blessing as they come and go.

My original thinking when I started was that I wanted the quotes to stand out, but as I moved forward, I decided to blend them in so as not to take away from the art, giving the viewer the opportunity to appreciate the artwork. They may choose to read the quote or not.
